Varilux Computer
Essilor’s lenses for the Computer Generation
Over the past decades computers have become an indispensable tool, either at work or at home and more than half of computer users are 40-60 year olds.
Screen-based work or leisure activities put a high demand on your eyes, resulting in repetitive refocusing of the eyes between the screen and the necessary documents. In fact, there can be up to 3,600 eye movement per hour when readjusting the eyes from monitor to keyboard!
Compared to decades ago, today’s work space setup has changed dramatically, and so has the availability of ‘VDU lenses’ for these requirements.
Since its launch a few years ago, Cameron-Davies has been very successfully fitting Essilor’s ‘Varilux Computer’ lens, to provide our patients with the best available product for computer use.
This lens is available in two styles:
1. Varilux Computer 2V
The 2V is particularly suitable for concentrated, self-contained screen or laptop work for long hours, without the need to focus at intermediate or far distances. The lens easily covers the keyboard and screen distances and is ideal for someone who does not wear glasses for general use.
2. Varilux Computer 3V
The 3V is suitable for the computer user who, in addition to the above- mentioned, also needs to interact with the environment, i.e. in meetings, and therefore not only requires clear vision up close, but also for intermediate distances.
Before we supply and fit any of the above lens designs, a full eye examination is essential, to assess the visual needs of the patient.
If you are interested in improving your vision, or have a particular VDU related problem, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be delighted to advise you on the best optical solution for you.
