Meet the team
Continuous academic study is at the heart of our professional services, as we believe it enables us to deliver the most comprehensive eye examinations on the high street.
All of our optometrists also work at Queen Alexandra Hospital Eye Department, ensuring advanced expertise and exposure to the latest developments in ophthalmology, meaning you will always benefit from the latest learning and thinking.
Our dispensing opticians are all fully qualified and very experienced. They work in close contact with lens and frame manufacturers in order to provide the best optical solutions for you.
Our relationships with clients are long standing and second to none. We believe in getting to know you well in order to give you the best service possible and look forward to meeting you in the practice soon.
Ian LovedayBSc (Hons) MCOptom Prof Cert Med Ret
Ian joined Robbie and Pat Cameron-Davies in 1994 and has seen many additions to the team and developments in the role of an optometrist over that time. He originally started his optical career in a contact lens practice in Brighton and still enjoys working in this field.

She was awarded her Diploma in Glaucoma which is the highest post-grad qualification awarded by the College of Optometrists. She undertook this at Moorfields Eye Hospital/UCL and Cardiff University. She has successfully completed her Diploma in Therapeutics and is an independent prescriber. This means she can treat and manage eye conditions that might otherwise have involved a trip to the hospital. She is an external examiner and mentor for other Optometric post graduate students at Cardiff University. University of Sussex invited her to deliver a lecture to MSc Pharmacy students on the topic of glaucoma.

Michael has a fantastic eye for detail and over 30 years experience. He prides himself on finding the perfect combination of frame and lenses to suit his clients’ visual requirements, face shape and style. He loves to wear a variety of glasses depending on his mood, and wears daily disposable lenses on holidays.
Matthew GrinsteadFBDO (Portchester Manager)
Matthew, with over 30 years of experience, loves his ability at Cameron-Davies to offer the best customer service as well as exceptional quality products. Carolyn PeerFADO MFDO
With over 30 years experience, Carolyn aims to make everyone’s eye care experience a positive one at Cameron-Davies and is passionate about frame and lens design. She likes the variety of sometimes wearing her Lindberg spirit and N.O.W frames with Nikon varifocals, and sometimes using 1 day Acuvue multifocal contact lenses.
Marion LovedayFADO MFDO
Marion’s friendly face is often hidden behind the scenes in the office, but she will lend her 30 years of experience in Portchester as needed, helping clients find their perfect frames. She wears glasses day-to-day but relies on contact lenses for social occasions.
Sophie likes the atmosphere and ethos of Cameron-Davies so much that she’s been with the business for 25 years. She swears by Nikon lenses for their beautifully clear and tough coatings, Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Oasys 1 Day for comfort, and prescription polarised sunglass lenses for crystal clear clarity.
Laura RuseFBDO HCA
Laura has been with Cameron-Davies for over 12 years and loves to find spectacles that bring out the personality of her clients, the ones they want to wear out of the shop. Personally she adores her Lindberg frames for their quality, style and comfort. She has recently qualified as a Hearing Care Assistant and is working towards her Hearing Aid Dispenser qualification.
Tom brings with him 25 years of experience to put you at ease and find the right solution for you. He wouldn’t be without his Oakley and Maui Jim sunglasses in the summer due to the amazing clarity of vision.
Kirsty has over 8 years of experience and loves the new developments in frame and lens design. Her aim is to find the right spectacles for everyone as an individual. She wears Lindberg and Orgreen because they are lightweight but still stylish, but also wears Face a Face for something a bit more bold.
With a long career in the business, Ken aims to exceed his clients’ expectations, by finding them the most pleasing and comfortable spectacles that they never expected to be within budget. Ken himself wears varifocals for ease in driving , TV and reading.
James has made the somewhat unusual transition from a Masters in Latin & Greek Literature and Ancient History to a 17 year career in Optics. He particularly enjoys introducing customers to styles of frames which might be new to them. He wears Moscot frames and Acuvue contact lenses for sport.
Bradley BowenTrainee Dispensing Optician
Having qualified in 2002 I have witnessed first hand the evolution from analogue systems to digital - from using a screwdriver to fit the hearing aid to now using complex software. All along the way the client has been at the centre of every consultation, allowing the accurate and informed selection of the right system, for the right person.
